Jetair international, a division of Marubeni Itochu Tubulars America Inc (hereafter referred to as Jetair) developed and patented the positive seal coupling system (PSC) as a cost effective alternative to welding for joining NPS 2" though 12" line pipe. Originally developed for use in joining internally coated pipe-it eliminates the need for problematic internal-sleeves or internal girth-weld "patch-work" and provides maximum coating integrity across every joint.

PSC installation requires minimum pre-work and no welding or post-connection inspection. Pipeline construction is much faster than conventional welding. This means wells get tied in sooner and oil production can go on-stream weeks ahead of schedule.

Since first used by Shell USA in 1979, more than 500,000 PSC have been installed in the US, UAE, Libya, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
